As of April 1, 2009 the Conficker Virus(worm) is supposed to wreak havoc with Microsoft Windows based microcomputers who still have not been properly patched. Microsoft Windows Update helps computer users to download critical security patches to keep the operating system up to date and secure. The best way to protect yourself from computer viruses ,malware, adware, worms , trojans is to keep your Operating System patched on a weekly basis.
It is also imperative that you install a good Anti Virus product such as Trends Micro, McAfee, Symantec , Fprot etc. AVG also makes a good product and is FREE for the home user. There is no excuse NOT to protect your valuable data. Install the AV solution of choice and run live update weekly and do periodic scans to make sure your computer is not only safe for you and your family to use but it will not be compromised and used on a bot net like the one that is supposed to used on April 1 with the Conficker worm.
